As frequent traveler I subscribe to the notion that “location is everything.” And this couldn’t be truer that a stay at Bogart House in the quintessential ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado.

Located just 80 miles from Denver, Breckenridge is breathtaking piece of Rocky Mountain paradise. Perched at an impressive 9,600-foot elevation, the area is encompassed by mountains and ski slopes. And no matter the time of year, the destination is a must visit as there’s so much to see and do. Just steps from the heart of Breckenridge’s downtown art district, the stunning 5-bedroom,5 1/2-bath 4,063 square-feet Bogart House can accommodate up to 16 guests—ideal for families, retreats or reunions. And because this vacation rental sits on three separate levels, everyone has ample space and breathing room.

The light green and white twin peaked classic Victorian with a modern mountain twist was just built in 2017. Owner David Berger, a builder and real-estate developer says for years Breckenridge was the perfect getaway from Denver for him, his wife, and their beloved bulldog, Bogart. “Bogey” as he was affectionately called, loved rolling in the winter snows or frolicking in the summer sun. Needless to say, both Bogey and the Bergers fell head over heels in love with Breckenridge. Though Bogey passed away years before the Bergers bought this Breckenridge home, David said it only seemed fitting to call it the Bogart House in his honor.

The magnificent abode exudes luxury with an abundance of amenities. Nothing is overlooked here. The comfort and convenience of its guests are obviously Bogart’s top priority. And the minute we walked into the front door all we could say was “you’ve got to be kidding.” Yes, we’d seen impressive photos of the home prior to our visit, but being here in person was quite another story. The main level of the home boasts hardwood floors, high beamed ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, and a well-appointed living room area with a large flat screen television, sound system and gas fireplace.

Most impressive are the views of Breckenridge’s ten-mile mountain range from its windows that remain snow-peaked most of the year. Waking up each morning to bluebird skies, fresh scents of conifer, and brisk cool temperatures was almost heaven. The massive open-air kitchen with its granite counter tops, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and elegant drop lighting contains every cooking utensil imaginable. We couldn’t wait to dig in and use each morning to create fun and delectable breakfasts for our group. And everyone had a great time.

Since there are several grocery stores in the area, stocking up for the stay was no problem at all. The spacious kitchen had more than enough ample space to store all our necessities. Kitchens are a favorite hangout in practically any home and it was no different with our group of friends as the six high bar stools at the counter were always occupied. A magnificently appointed separate dining area adjoining the kitchen can comfortably seat up to 10 guests.

Each piece of art work donning the walls of Bogart House was a comforting reminder that this was one very special mountain destination celebrating the splendor of the Rockies. We were quite the happy campers. A bathroom is situated directly off the kitchen and a mud room with plenty of benches and hooks leads to a heated 2-car garage with ample storage for boots and skis during the winter. All five bedrooms in the home are tastefully decorated, each touting its own private bath and walk-in closet. The Master Suite on the third level is magnificent with its king-size bed and fire place. A second bedroom on the same floor has a queen bed.

Washers and dryers are located on both the first and third levels. The downstairs area is like a house of its own with a large family/recreation room fully equipped with a flat-screen TV, DVD player and arcade games. A wet bar with a wine cooler, microwave and dishwasher sits directly off the family room.

The lower level features three separate bedrooms with walk-in showers, a Master King with a twin extra-long sleeper chair, a queen room, and queen bunk room ideal for kids or the younger crowd. With Breckenridge a popular ski town and a nature lovers’ nirvana, there’s nothing like having your own private outdoor hot tub to “soak in” the incredible mountain views and night-time stars after a day on the slopes or a mountain hiking or biking expedition.

Grill masters choosing to “cook out” rather than cook in”will love the outdoor patio grill. Because of its close proximity to the historic downtown, walking to restaurants and activities couldn’t have been more convenient.Guests will also love the Free Ride bus stop just a few steps away. And the Breck Connect Gondola located just a few blocks down the street transports riders from downtown to the slopes of the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

It’s open most weeks throughout the year, even outside ski season. Breckenridge has always been one of our favorite small towns in America. With so much natural beauty, history, and cultural flavors, it’s one of those destinations you’ll never forget. And staying in the perfect vacation home just seals the deal on the perfect vacation getaway.
