Citrus Crush Palm Springs – Stunning Oasis in the Desert

Article & Photos by Noreen Kompanik

Surrounded by thousands of miles of stark desert beauty, Palm Springs, California has evolved into a a vibrant culinary and art scene. Palm Springs’ connection to Hollywood attracts those looking for glitz and glamour; that provides much to do and see, with some fascinating history thrown in for fun.

With its renowned desert hot springs, spectacular golf courses, luxurious spas, fascinating museums, great entertainment and fabulous cuisine; it’s no wonder the area has become so popular as a winter destination or a perfect weekend getaway. To get as much as possible out of your stay, location is crucial and Citrus Crush in Twin Palms is the perfect location.

Mid-Century modern architecture is red-hot right now in Palm Springs. When desert temperatures climb, nothing feels better than chilling in a brand spanking new cool, and comfortable private home with a refreshing backyard pool and spa. Citrus Crush, with its stunning yellow exterior accent walls was the perfect place for our weekend getaway.

The home may be new, but the classy retro décor is like stepping back in time. The sleek stylish two bedroom two-bath home is located in the historic Twin Palms area just south of downtown Palm Springs and, mere minutes from the heart of town. In fact, a free trolley shuttle service is just steps outside the home.

Black, white and gray is the color theme throughout the home. Strategically placed lamps and distinctive artwork add just the right splash of color to each room and this classy decorative scheme works perfectly.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home and this gourmet kitchen with its high-end stainless steel appliances has everything guests could possibly want or need. With appliances this nice, they practically do everything themselves. Reheating coffee in the microwave was one of the most fun experiences we’ve had in a vacation rental. With buttons that open and close the door automatically; we almost expected the coffee to be hand-delivered when ready.

When the dishwasher is turned on, it’s almost impossible to hear it working. As a kitchen lover and cooking aficionado, I could have spent an entire day just getting to know this fascinating room.

Retro bar stools are the ideal touch for those who want to relax at the counter.

There is a dining table separating the kitchen from the open living room that has seating for six. All floors are covered in a high-end gray-toned tile with the exception of the bedrooms which have soft-textured gray
carpeting.

Soft leather sofas invite guests to sit and relax and there is no resisting taking our shoes off to run our toes through the soft white thick-shagged carpet. A fireplace located in the corner is ready and waiting to warm up a cool desert evening. For those who feel the need to stay plugged in with the real world or in the mood to watch a retro movie, there’s a nice wall-mounted television to help out.

Designed to take in as much of the stunning exterior desert landscape as possible, the home was built with a multitude of windows. A sliding glass door leads to the pool and spa, with an outdoor table that can
accommodate six for outdoor dining.

A long narrow hallway leads to an area that can be used as an office or a den with a pullout sofa that sleeps two. A well-appointed guest bedroom contains a queen-size

bed and, the master has a comfy king with luxurious bed pillows and soft cotton bed linens. The retro-midcentury modern theme is carried out through these rooms. The well-appointed bathrooms boast high-end fixtures, luxury towels and attractive walk-in showers. High end toiletries (like Aveda) are provided for guests along with walk-in closets that provide more than ample space.

For longer stays; the washer and dryer in the spacious garage would come in handy. The outdoor patio has a tall, well-designed concrete block wall built around the entire property for maximum privacy. Landscaping follows the desert theme, offering just the right accompaniment to the surrounding mountains and palm trees. A home with a pool and spa, umbrellas and outdoor furniture couldn’t be more inviting—no matter what time of year.

The Citrus Crush vacation home is perfect for solo travelers, families, couples or a girls’ getaway. It is the ideal place to enjoy Palm Springs; located on a quiet street, guests can expect an uninterrupted peaceful
slumber. Location is definitely everything and being close to Palm Springs helps make a vacation stay or weekend getaway that much better.
